Worldbuilding!

 Colour: Blue

My Blog

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve written anything! ConCrit is well appreciated :) Hope you enjoy.

The stars are cold and distant, mere pinpricks of light in the vast sky. Only a full moon shares the dark blue, looking more like a peephole into another dimension of radiant light as opposed to an orbiting celestial body. Walls of ice tower all around, soft blue in complexion, but harsh in composure. The air is still, but heavy with cold. Any stranger to the atmosphere would feel their lungs become inundated with thick, frigid air, as though they were breathing snow.

The water is deceptively calm, reflecting the ocean of expanse that swims lazily by above it. One would mistake it for a mirror, taking a haphazard step before plunging into the deep, never to resurface again. Every once in a while a small ripple breaks, but any signs of life below quickly disappears, and the illusion quickly repairs itself.

A shipwreck finds itself embedded in the side of one of the massive walls that surround the enclosure. Once a handsome explorer’s ship, it is now nothing but a black skeleton silhouetted against the blue of its prison. A tattered red flag hangs limp from the mast, symbol indiscernible through the numerous holes. White barnacles dot the rotting wood, spoiled by years of abandonment. When viewed from far away, the spindly remains of the vessel seem to be embedded into the glossy sea.

Islands of white-blue ice sit placidly on the water. The only discernable way out is forwards, but the labyrinth of glacial walls seems never ending. The soft purple and orange of sunrise shimmers invitingly from beyond the horizon, barely visible. Its appearance means nothing – daylight is still long in coming, and winter is eternal.
